I am currently sitting in the airport as I write this. I really love to travel, but I hate the airport. Peoples manners seem to go out the window when they walk through the door, but I will save my airport pet peeves for another post.
The easiest part of packing for me is my toiletry bag. Whatever I have in the bag stays in there, so it is always ready to go. I just do a once over and refill or replace anything that’s needed. I really try my best to keep it simple. I don’t feel the need to pack all of my normal skincare routine items especially since I am usually not checking bags and space is limited.
I also try to keep things separated by categories so when I get to my destination I can unpack it quickly– plus I also have a little OCD…just a little. My unused Ipsy bags end up being perfect for this, but any ziplock bag would work too.
Let’s start with skincare. I bring with me two separate facial cleansers, one for the morning and one for the night. Neither one is specifically made for that, but it’s just a thing I do. I am not sure why really.
I currently have been using Dermalogica special cleansing gel and Skyn Iceland glacial face wash. The Demalogica I actually use at home and will refill the travel sized bottle. As far as the Skyn Iceland I am not really sold on the product yet, but it does seem to give you that deep clean feeling after. I also bring along the Dermalogic skin soothing cream, barrier repair and multivitamin power firm for under my eyes. As for as an SPF, I have been bringing my full-size Glo oil-free SPF moisturizer (not pictured).
My hair is even more simple. I honestly don’t even bring a hairdryer since my incident in Chile. Let’s just say that I may or may not have caused the power to go out in the entire building from using my hairdryer.
I make sure to bring along my all time favorite shampoo and conditioner the perfect blonde from Pravana. I really am obsessed! Their leave-in product is also a must and used at home. Seriously, if you have blonde hair you have to try these products, it’s a game changer. If you don’t have blonde hair they have a blue leave-in product that is perfect for wet hair and tangles! Okay, enough ranting about Pravana. I also bring every basic girls must have.. dry shampoo!
My makeup is also very scaled down from my normal routine. I make sure to always have the Tarte Clay Foundation stick. It is not only amazing coverage and perfect for every skin type, it is also TSA approved since it’s not liquid. Therefore it’s my go-to travel foundation and it gets used a lot at home. I also bring along a travel-sized Tarte mascara, Hula quicky contour stick, and The Balm cabana boy for blush. The Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil I will use to lightly contour my cheekbones and nose. I will also put some in the creases of my lid to give my eyes some depth.
I’ve been using this sample sized bye-bye under eye corrector illumination from IT cosmetics for months now. A little bit really goes a long way but since it is illuminating I don’t recommend using it on blemishes. As far as a highlight goes I like to bring Urban Decay’s midnight cowboy eyeshadow. I can use it for eyeshadow or a quick highlight. The packaging is nice and compact.
A few other things not shown that are definitely must-haves in my toiletry bag are tweezers, nail clippers, sunscreen and the obvious bar of soap! I do think I could honestly live without all of this stuff as long as I had some facial cleanser, moisturizer, and mascara. What are a few of your must-have items in your toiletry bag when you travel?!?
